Pura Vida Babes!

You guys I am seriously so sorry that I have been MIA. To tell you the truth my life has just been a little bit hectic in Costa Rica for the past several weeks. I literally have 16 more days in San Jose! WHAT! As I type that out I’m mentally freaking out about how fast the time has gone. In some ways I’m really excited to get back home. I’m graduating this fall and I’m so stoked about what’s in store for me. At the same time I’m sad that my time in Costa Rica is almost coming to an end. In the next few days I’m gonna try my best to post consistently so that I can share some of my stories of my journey here.

With that being said, Let’s jump into my outfit! So some of my favorite outfits that have inspired me recently has been urban wear. If you don’t know what urban wear is think of black, graphics, camo, cool sneaks, and a snapback hat. Everything about urban wear and urban style is so DOPE! So in honor of this trend, I picked up this graphic, black fringe top and paired it with my boyfriend jeans.

To complete my look I added a tropical headpiece and some champagne colored sneaks.

Hola Babes!

I’m super excited to share this outfit with y’all today because this was my first official shoot in San Jose, Costa Rica!! Since I’ve been here, I didn’t have the time to do a photoshoot until this past weekend. Shoutout to my host brother Fernando! He took me to downtown San Jose and created photoshoot magic with my camera capturing this pink tropical dress perfectly! But seriously can I take a moment to gush over this dress?! A trend going into this summer is colorful, bold, tropical prints. When I was packing for Costa Rica, I purposely went out to buy pieces that had flowers, birds, palm trees, etc. I particularly adore this dress that I got because first it’s in my favorite color pink and second the intricate details of the dress like the ruffled sleeves and the colorful palm leave print adds so much character to the dress.

To complete my outfit I added some fun pink sunnies and a pair of chunky heels.

Hola Bebes!

I know it’s been awhile since I last published a fashion post but I’ve just been so busy lately. But things are now starting to settle down for me so I should be able to post more consistently. Now let’s talk about this outfit. I am IN LOVE with this t-shirt dress! Absolutely in love! Hell I don’t even know what an electric panther is! Is it some obscure band I haven’t heard of? Or some secret rock group? Who Knows? All I know is that when I saw this dress I wanted it! It’s just so edgy and those fuchsia sequenced sleeves are to die for!! This dress is so easy to either dress up or dress down.

I paired my dress with some sunnies and some black heels but you can easily wear this outfit with some cute sneakers as well.

Pura Vida Baby!!!

Hola Y’all! If you are not aware I am currently in San Jose, Costa Rica studying abroad for 3 months. Crazy right?! What’s even crazier is that I don’t speak a lick of Spanish. Like Nada! Lol! But honestly it’s ok. I came to Costa Rica because I wanted an adventure. I wanted to do something completely out my comfort zone and actually be a person who says yes to every opportunity thrown my way. So long story short I am now here in San Jose!

Vibing with pretty flowers on my way too school.

The program I came with is called Veritas Christian Study Abroad which is a division of International Studies Abroad (ISA). Through Veritas not only do I get to study abroad but I get to do mission work as well. For my program in Costa Rica it gives me the opportunity to work with sex trafficking victims here in San Jose. If you know me you know that helping sex trafficking victims is my heart and is what I want to dedicate my life too. So having the opportunity to do that here in Costa Rica motivated me more to come here.

My University!

I have now officially been here for a little over a week now and it has been one hell of a ride already! First and foremost I love it in San Jose. The place is beautiful, the people are so warm and kind, and the culture is truly Pura Vida. Pure Vida meaning pure life, more than a saying but in everything a way of life down here. It’s something I am still getting used too but I am embracing it entirely. I have had some major help along the way with my host family and my roommates. My host family and my roommates have been nothing but kind and super supportive. They have taught me some Spanish, taken me to school, help me run errands etc. Seriously, I could not have survived my first week here without them!

My Host Home.

In the matter of a few days I’ve settled into my new home, toured San Jose, started classes, and traveled out of the country to Panama! Overwhelmed?!  Hell yeah! But would I want to be doing anything else?! Absolutely not!

Bloom Baby Bloom!

The floral/ flower details is definitely on trend this season! It seems like anytime I hit the stores I see tons of tops, dresses, etc covered in flower details. I personally adore this trend! It’s springtime and a little flower power on a top or a pair of cute jeans is fine by me. So when I saw this adorable, pink, floral top with puffy sleeves in the stores I fell in love. Y’all pink is my signature color! From the time I was a little girl till now it has been my favorite color and always will be.

I paired my top with some high waisted shorts and some chunky heels. P.S if you haven’t noticed I totally got a new hair do! I decided to put some twists in my hair since I moved to Costa Rica for 3 months!

Happy Monday Y’all !

You guys this wrapped cardigan I have on is EVERYTHING! I wish there was some way you could feel how soft and warm it is from your computer screens. It is seriously so cozy and looks chic which is what I love about it. For the days where I want to be warm and cozy but still look chic I pull this cardigan out of my closet.

I paired my cardigan with a black lace top, my high waisted jeans and some black pumps to complete my look.

It’s Rodeo Time!

Y’all I’m so excited that the Houston Livestock Rodeo is in town! I don’t know about y’all but if a place has carnival rides, fried foods, and good music I’m there! That’s exactly what the rodeo is if you’re not familiar. So in honor of the rodeo being in town, I’m sharing a rodeo inspired look without cowboy boots! Don’t get me wrong I have nothing against cowboy boots. In fact I think they’re cute! I honestly just didn’t have a pair of cowboy boots at home and I also wanted to switch things up a bit. Not every rodeo look needs a pair of boots! For my look I work some closed toe, chunky heel, nude shoes instead. LOL! Call me crazy but I think I look fine as hell!

I wore a fringe blouse, a nude hat and a denim skirt to complete my look.

Happy First Day of Spring y’all!

I went to New Orleans for Spring Break and had the best time. New Orleans is definitely one of my favorite cities in the world.  It was so refreshing to get away for awhile and to spend time with my mom. I feel so refreshed and recharged.  Since its the first day of spring, I decided to show off my flower mesh dress! You guys!! I don’t usually follow trends but I am OBSESSED with the mesh/tulle trend going on right now. In fact, if I had all the mesh dresses and body suits in the world this girl would be happy forever! Mesh material is light and flowy and can be as revealing/ sexy as you want it to be. I picked up this mesh dress with flower details from Zara and I thought it was perfect for spring.

I paired my dress with high waisted jeans, gold hoop earrings and some chunky heel boots to complete my look.

Happy International Woman’s Day!

We are seriously the forces of change in the world! Today I thought I’d share a little bit about where I am now and my womanhood journey, especially as a woman of God.

I guess I officially entered womanhood when I turned 18 years old. When I turned 18 I became a legal adult, graduated high school, and headed off to college. All of those things were huge milestone for me in my life.  It’s now been 4 years since then and I can confidently tell you I am not the same woman I was 4 years ago. I am a evolving woman of God. What does that mean exactly? Well to me it means the I am a young woman who loves the Lord but at the same time I’m constantly evolving. I’m discovering who I am and who I want to be in the world and the more I evolve and grow the more I authentically become who I was created to be.

The past 4 years in my womanhood have been adventurous to say the least. Sometimes there have been moments so radical that It changed who I was as person overnight. Other times in the quiet moments, I realized my transformation had come slow for me in certain areas. The main transformation that I see within myself is the freedom that has come over me! I have kissed the days goodbye of any stereotype/expectation of how I’m supposed to be, look, talk or act as a woman of God! Y’all I couldn’t do it anymore and I literally had to say “bye boo boo!” to the expectations.  I’ve come to realize that Jesus gives me the grace to be myself and to live my process.

He liberates me to bloom and conqueror. He uplifts me when I crash and fail. God guides my path, but also lovingly allows me to choose for myself. He is my biggest cheerleader in all of my life moments, in all of my transformation, and as I evolve he remains constant. Jesus didn’t die for who I would become in him, but he died for where I am in this moment. I am a woman and a daughter of the king who can approach his throne as me! That is the best feeling in the world!

I cut the B.S with God a long time ago (he sees right through it anyway). I am my most authentic and raw self when I’m with him so sometimes it’s messy. That means I’m always real. If I don’t feel like talking to him I tell him. If I think someone is a bitch and I don’t want to pray for them I tell him.  Sorry if you’re offended by what I just wrote but this is the reality of my relationship with God. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t do this proudly. I am not walking around thinking I can say or do whatever I want in my relationship with God. What I am saying though is that I recognize who I am with and in him. I don’t have to hide my humanity around him or walk around egg shells.

He isn’t and will never be afraid of my humanity, or where I am in life. He knows and sees all things and I think he’s glad that I lay everything on the table rather than put up a pretense. Having a raw and honest relationship with Lord is the only thing that will push us into holiness and righteousness. Into true transformation where we genuinely reflect him and become our most authentic selves. For all us transformation/evolving will take a lifetime. We are constantly changing and growing and God is faithful to complete every good work he’s started in us. So we have to trust God in our process. We have to believe that his word true and that he does love us exactly where we are! There is no need to force being holy or whatever it is you feel you need to be.

While we embrace who we are flaws and all and pursue relationship with him, we not only have an authentic relationship with God, but we realize that in time we start reflecting him. So be yourself y’all no matter what it looks like! Don’t jump ahead of God. Don’t force yourself to be something you’re not, especially if you’re not there yet. In due time you’ll get there and God will do the transformation in you to be there! trust you’re process and trust and believe the love he has for the person you are now!

Zara is just one of those stores I’m obsessed with. I can’t help it I shop there all the time. Y’all its so bad that some of the ladies who work in the dressing room recognize me. I’m pretty sure I’m slowly working my way up to first name basis with them lol. I don’t know if I should be super ashamed or proud but y’all get my point. Anyway I picked up this spotted crop top that I’m in love with. The sleeves are flared that gives it a 70s vibe but isn’t super retro and it just makes me feel so fun and fearless. I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again, clothes should make you feel confident if they don’t trash them or better yet give it to someone who needs it.

To add some spunk to my outfit I added some sexy black heels and a sparkly chocker.
